More Seeds!

A new round of seeds have been planted. First of all, I've lost two marigolds, a rosemary, a pepper and a tomato since beginning, either because they didn't germinate or they weren't trying hard enough in life.
However, I have started again with some of those (and most of my seedlings are actually really thriving), and in addition I have now also planted carrots, peas and cucumbers. But I know I've already made a fundamental mistake with the carrots. After planting them, I came across several videos saying you should sieve the soil because if the tap root hits any obstruction while it's growing, you'll end up with splintered carrots, rather than ones growing in straight lines. I didn't do this, so who knows how they're going to turn out but not much I can do about that now. I guess it's all learning.
Speaking of learning, I have learned that I will never plant marigolds again. They are causing me nothing but struggle. No matter how or when I plant them, no matter how big or deep the pot is, they just end up flopped over and unable to support their weight. Maybe one day I will try them again, but it's not today. (And yes, I know I could get grow lights to help, but I refuse. Surely there must be a way to grow them without artificial light. How did old timey people do it??)
