First Garden Fail

So here it is. The first garden fail of the year, and I haven't even properly started gardening yet. The bugs have won, and it's not even because they're smart it's because I'm not.

Now that the weather has gotten a little warmer in the afternoons, I decided to clean the bug nests off my balcony before I start gardening. However, the bug nests are high up and I really don't want to stand on a chair on the balcony.

Mistake number one was that I got lazy. I was going to go to Bau und Hobby and get some sort of cleaning implement like a long brush or something but on Saturday morning, I found an old mop in the back of my cleaning cupboard so I thought that would be fine.

Mistake number two was that I did not clean the mop prior to use, after it had been sitting in the back of the cleaning cupboard for who knows how long. And mistake number three was that I didn't have one of those buckets where you can squeeze the excess water out of the mop so I had to press it on the floor of the balcony to try and get some water out, which definitely did not work.

As a result of this, whilst I did manage to clear away some of the bug nests, what I actually ended up doing was just smearing them all over the place, along with whatever dirt was on that old mop. And because the mop was soaking wet, it definitely dripped all over the balcony and me.

So, there is going to need to be a part two of balcony cleaning and this time I'm actually going to have to go to Bau und Hobby and look at their cleaning stuff and see what I can actually find that will do the job and I can get for under $20 (CHF), because there is no way I'm spending more than that.

In the meantime, here is a video of me smearing bug bodies all over my balcony. You can kind of see me give up halfway through when I see that it's not working, and yet still keep going for a while. And I've put some stupid music on to highlight my brilliance. Enjoy!
